Merchants have the option of pinning products into specific positions (slots) within search results for specific categories. Follow this walkthrough for a visual tour.
In the main menu of the Athos Commerce console, select "Merchandising". When the Merchandising menu appears, click "Campaigns" under "Visual Merchandising".
From this page, select a campaign to manage under the Default Campaigns tab (used for global campaigns) or the Targeted Campaigns tabs. In this example, we have chosen "Campaign 3" under Targeted Campaigns.
Unpinning Behavior
Use the "Unpinning Behavior" settings to control how products behave when an item is unpinned.
-
The reverse arrow icon on the left, "Unpin and shift", will shift all products (in the same order as their current positions) to fill the empty slot when an item is unpinned.
-
The shadowed block icon in the middle, "Auto-fill", will fill the empty slot based on our relevance algorithm and boost rules when an item is unpinned.
-
The crossed-out pin icon on the far right, "Unpin All", will unpin every pinned product in the selected campaign.
Note: "Unpin and shift" is the default setting.
Pinning Products
Note that to the left of the first image, there is a large black cursor.
This cursor, like a computer mouse icon on your screen, serves as a place marker to show where your focus is. You may reposition the cursor anywhere by hovering over any space between products. The cursor will appear in a lighter gray until you click; then it will fix itself to the selected position.
If you mouse over any item in the display, you will see a "Pin" menu appear in the top left corner. This menu offers four options:
- Pin to top
- Pin here
- Pin to cursor
- Pin all prior
Pin to top
Click "Pin to top" to pin the selected item in the very first slot (position) on the page. The cursor will move immediately from the first slot to the right of the newly pinned item.
Pin here
Click "Pin here" to pin the selected item in its current slot (position). The cursor will move immediately from the first slot to the right of the newly pinned item.
Pin to cursor
Click "Pin to cursor" to pin the selected item to the left of the cursor's current position.
Pin all prior
Click "Pin all prior" to pin the current item and any items above it to their current slots (positions).
The enhanced pinning function allows you to drag and drop an item into a particular slot, where it will be pinned automatically. The cursor will move to the right of the newly pinned item.
You can also double-click an item to pin the item to the left of the cursor. To pin the item to a different location, position the cursor where you want it, then double-click the product to pin it to that location.
Unpin an item by simply mousing over the item and clicking the pin icon, then selecting "Unpin".
Pins toolbox
You have the option to manage pins in bulk by clicking the "Pins" button in the left-hand menu. You'll note two tabs in this toolbox: Pinned Products and Unpinning Conditions.
Pinned Products
In the Pinned Products tab, you can preview all items that have been pinned, along with the slot (position) of each product, which is represented by a circled number in the top right corner of each product. Mouse over the pin on an item and click to unpin it.
Unpinning Conditions
In the Unpinning Conditions tab, you can add up to two conditions (rules) that dictate when a product should be unpinned. This could be related to the product's age, inventory, season, or another factor. Automated unpinning rules ensure that outdated products are removed dynamically, keeping campaigns fresh and relevant without manual intervention.
Click the "Add Unpin Condition" button at the bottom of the left menu to create a new unpinning condition. Use the "Apply Unpinning When" drop-down menu to select a field, then click the selector drop-down to select is/is not/is less than/is more than. Type in a field value or select one from the drop-down list.
You can add a maximum of two (2) unpinning rules. If you add more than one (1) rule, the rules will be joined by an "OR" condition, meaning the product will get unpinned if either of the rules are met.
The system provides visual indicators to highlight products that have been removed when unpinning rules are met; affected products will have a dotted gray margin around the product card.
In addition, when you are in preview mode, the system offers behavioral options to dynamically manage unpin products.
Note: You are limited to two conditions in the Unpinning Conditions tab.
Products toolbox
Use the Products toolbox (on the far left) to manage the products in this campaign and to upload products in bulk that you wish to pin using the Products toolbox.
Click the Products button in the left menu. Find a product using the search box at the top of the window. In the example below, we searched for "sweater". We will click the "+" button to pin it to the cursor.
When the product is added here by clicking the plus (+) button, that item will be inserted to the left of the cursor, and any existing pinned products will shift to the right to make room for it, as shown below.
Click the button on the top left, "Pin These 10", to pin the top ten items shown in the toolbox search.
Removed tab
Click the Removed tab to see any products that have been removed from the campaign.
Bulk Import tab
Click the Bulk Import tab to add multiple SKUs at once.
Note: The Bulk Add option is only available for "Search" or "Landing Page" campaigns.
You may copy in a comma-separate list of product IDs, and these items will be pinned to the top of the list, starting with the first slot. Any existing pinned products will be shifted farther down.
Be sure to save your changes by clicking the "Save" button at the top of the toolbox menu on the left. The system will display a status bar with info about publishing changes to the revised campaign.
Copy a campaign
When you save a campaign, you have the option to copy it, found in the main Campaign Details toolbox on the top left of the page.
Click the text "Copy Campaign" and a pop-up window will appear.
Click the drop-down menu to select to which account you will copy the campaign. Then click the "Copy Campaign" button at the bottom right of the pop-up window.
Preview a campaign
You can preview your campaign and rules within the Campaign Editor; simply click the buttons at the top right of the editor to "Preview Banners" (the flag on the left) or "Preview Campaign Products" (the eye icon on the right).
A preview of the campaign will display.
