The first thing you see when going to Visual Merchandising is a page to navigate all campaigns on your site. Here you can organize all your campaigns, edit existing campaigns, and create new ones.
What is a campaign?
In the Athos Commerce Search & Product Discovery console, a campaign is a centralized container for the rules, settings, and content that define the shopping experience. It allows merchandisers to move beyond "one-size-fits-all" results by curating exactly what a shopper sees based on who they are, where they are, and what they are looking for.
1. The scope: Where does it apply?
Campaigns can be broad or surgical, depending on your goals:
- Default Campaigns: These act as a global baseline, applying rules or banners across your entire site unless a more specific campaign takes over.
- Targeted Campaigns: These focus on specific Product Listing Pages (PLPs), categories, or search terms (e.g., showing a specific order of results only when a user searches for "running shoes").
2. The toolkit: What's inside?
Every campaign is built using four core pillars:
- Merchandising Rules: Use boosts to prioritize high-margin items or pin specific "must-see" products to the top of the grid.
- Visual Content: Add promotional banners or adjust filter logic to make the page more intuitive.
- Personalization: When this is enabled, the campaign tracks individual shopper preferences for brands and categories. It then re-ranks results in real-time to match that specific shopper's tastes.
- Scheduling: Set start and end dates to automate seasonal refreshes or limited-time holiday promotions.
3. The result
By combining these elements, a campaign transforms a standard list of products into a high-converting, personalized storefront tailored to your business strategy.
Default Campaigns
Default campaigns are similar to targeted campaigns, but they take effect as a default across your entire site. These default campaigns allow you to add global banners, global boost rules, and campaign schedules. However, no other features from Visual Merchandising are available at this level.
Note: You should have at least one default campaign in place.
Targeted Campaigns
Targeted campaigns include all other campaigns that are more targeted for merchandising strategy for search, category, landing pages, segments, and geographies.
Folders
The Folders at the top right of the page help you keep your campaigns organized. You can create folders by store department, merchandising employee, seasons, sales, product types, store sections, or any other relevant category. Click the "Folders" button to see your options.
Create a new folder
Add new folders using the "+ New Folder" button at the top right of the folders list.
Rename Folder
Change the name of a folder by clicking the icon with three dots at the far right of an existing folder and clicking "Rename Folder".
A new window will pop up and list the folder name; type in the new name and click the "Rename Folder" button at the bottom right when you're done, or click the "Cancel" button to cancel your changes.
You can also delete a folder here; all campaigns inside the deleted folder will be moved to the "Uncategorized" folder.
Moving campaigns
Any number of campaigns can be moved to a folder by selecting checkboxes for them, then clicking the "Move to" button at the top of the table and selecting which folder to move the campaign(s) to. You can also search folder names by typing in the box at the top to quickly find a folder.
When you've selected the correct folder, click the "Move to" button to complete the move, or click the "Cancel" button to cancel your changes.
View a folder
To view all campaigns in a folder, simply click the folder name, and the page will refresh to show the campaigns in the chosen folder. The title above the campaigns table will also let you know which folder you're in.
Searching campaigns
Find a campaign using the search box at the top left. Search by name or target (e.g., "fall sale" or "category_hierarchy: shoes") by typing in the keyword. The system will automatically match search results as you type.
Campaigns list
The table shows a list of all campaigns you have configured.
Use the pagination at the bottom to see the next or previous page; use the "Rows per page" drop-down to select how many rows of fields are displayed on a page.
Campaign
This column shows the name of your campaign. This is an internal name that won't appear to your customers, so name it whatever you like.
Type
This column allows you to choose the context of where the campaign is targeting on your site.
- Search = The campaign affects specific search result page(s)
- Search Contains = The campaign affects any search result page that contains a specific word or phrase
- Category = The campaign affects category page(s)
- Mixed = The campaign affects a mix of search result and category pages, or other applied filters
- Landing Page = The campaign is a custom-made product listing page from scratch. Read more.
Targets
Campaigns can be configured to apply in more than one scenario. This column tells you how many scenarios it occurs in, and hovering over the number tells you what those scenarios are.
Views
This column shows the number of views for the selected campaign.
Campaign Configuration
These icons give you a high-level view of how campaigns are affecting your site.
Personalization
If the Personalization icon is blue, this indicates that the campaign has personalization enabled. If personalization is disabled, this icon will be grayed out.
Filters
If the Filters icon is blue, the campaign is changing the filters that would normally appear. If the campaign does not include filters, this icon will be grayed out.
Pinned
If the Pinned icon is blue, the campaign incorporates pinned products. If the campaign does not include pinned products, this icon will be grayed out.
Banners
If the Banner icon is blue, the campaign is showing banner content on that page. If the campaign does not include banners, this icon will be grayed out.
Boosts
If the Boosts icon is blue, the campaign is dynamically boosting products based on their properties. If the campaign does not include boost rules, this icon will be grayed out.
Schedule
This column shows the start and end dates for your campaign. Sorting these columns provides useful insight into current and future campaigns.
Last Updated
This column identifies the last time a campaign was updated. Campaigns that haven't been updated in a long time might need some attention. Recently updated campaigns can help you find where you left off on your recent changes.
Options
Click the icon with three dots to see options; you can choose to edit or delete the selected campaign.

Editing a campaign
If you choose to edit a campaign, a new window will open with details of the campaign. Modify any aspects of the campaign using the toolboxes on the left side of the page. Learn more about editing campaigns here.
Deleting a campaign
If you choose to delete a campaign, the system will pop up a message asking, "Are you sure you want to delete this campaign(s)?" Click the "Confirm Delete" button at the bottom right, or click the "Cancel" button next to it to cancel your changes.
Copying a campaign
You can duplicate a merchandising campaign on your site, or copy it to another site if you manage multiple sites. The campaign's boost rules, banners, pinned products, removed products, and custom filter order will be copied.
Note: Campaigns cannot be copied to a different storefront. Copying a campaign will work only for domains within the same storefront setup, as this function uses sku and product uid as identifiers between multiple sites within the same store.
Once you have copied the campaign, you will be taken to the editing interface for your newly copied campaign. If you chose a different site, you will also be redirected to the new site.
Note: If you copied to a different site, it's possible that not all of your data is consistent between sites. Double-check that your targeting is correct, adjust boost rule field names as necessary, and review any custom filter orders.
Be sure to resolve any targeting or scheduling conflicts.

Managing campaign conflicts
Two campaigns cannot have overlapping sets of targets and date/time ranges. If there is a conflict with another campaign, you will not be able to save the campaign and the Targeting & Schedule toolboxes will display an alert. Click here to read more about resolving conflicts.
