To use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), the Athos Commerce platform will need to connect to a custom audience to track and report search data on your site from Google.
This is a three-step process that requires you to log into your Google Analytics account.
- Before we begin, ensure that you have enabled Site Search tracking on your Google account.
-
Create a custom audience on your Google Analytics account. In GA4, an audience is a group of users who share specific characteristics or behaviors, such as users who completed a certain action on a website or app, or users who visited a specific page.
In simple terms, an audience is a group of users that you want to monitor based on any combination of interactions in a given timeframe. The audience allows you to segment the users based on events, dimensions, and metrics important to a business. In the context of Athos, you will need to create an audience to understand how search activity relates to your E-commerce events like purchases. Please follow this article which will guide you on how to create an audience for Athos in your Google account.
- Re-connect to your Google account from the Athos console. As we transition from UA to GA4, all customers will need to re-authenticate the Athos app in order to continue using the GA4 API. This re-authentication process is necessary to ensure that your app is securely connected to the GA4 API and has the appropriate permissions to access your GA4 data. To re-authenticate your app, you will need to follow the instructions provided in this article.
