Installing a Recommendations Profile

If you're happy with how you've set up your profile, then it's time to put it on your site.

Save & Activate

If you haven't done so already, you will need to save & activate your profile in this tab before continuing. This locks in the profile-id tag that you've selected to use for this profile and makes it available for use on your website. Once your profile is activated, it will show the status "Live" on the main Personalized Recommendations page.

Integration

Click the profile to open it. At the bottom left of the Template tab, the system displays a button "Show Integration Instructions". Click this button to see what's next.

A new window will appear, where instructions will be displayed for your integration type. The system will display both the integration code and instructions for how and where to apply it.

Note: If the Integration Instructions window is blank, ask your customer success manager or your professional services consultant to set the integration type for your store. If the type is not selected, the system will display "Unknown", and no instructions will appear on the recommendations profile.

When you generate the integration code, it will include some elements that need to be added from your store’s templating system.

Depending on the recommendation type you chose, these elements will include:

• SKU Snippet: This element should pass the SKU of the product(s) to get recommendations for. 

Used for: Cross-Sell and Similar recommendations

• Category ID: This element should pass the ID associated with the category to get recommendations for.

Used for: Category Trending recommendations

• Shopper ID: This element should pass the ID associated with the shopper (e.g. the user ID associated with their account.) If the shopper is not logged in, this can be omitted.

Used for: Persisting personalized recommendations across devices

To implement the recommendations profile, copy the generated code with the appropriate elements incorporated from your templating system and paste it into your store’s code wherever you would like recommendations to appear.
