You can find all cross-sell rules on this tab. The rules on this tab affect the way that cross-sell recommendations are generated. Cross-sell rules affect only cross-sell, cart-cross-sell, and bundle recommendations.
Note: You can hover over a product, category, or brand to see its unique ID.
This table offers multiple options at the top right:
- Upload = Click this button to import a CSV file containing the rules for the selected table. Note that the imported data will replace any existing data in that rule set. If you wish to add rules while keeping the existing rules intact, first export the existing data and add your rows before importing.
- Download = Click this button to export a CSV file of the rules from the selected table.
- New Rule button = Click this button to add a new rule.
- Search field = Click within this field and key in a value, then press <Enter> or click the magnifying glass icon to search among the rules defined here and filter which ones are shown.

Sibling Handling in Personalization
If your catalog uses exploded variants (also known as "split variants"), you have the ability to customize siblings in cross-sell and similar product rules.
Admin-only
You can also view a demo about this function here.
What are siblings?
A sibling is a member of the parent-level group of items in the catalog that are displayed on a single product detail page (PDP) on the website. For example, all the colors for a shirt have been exploded as separate items in the catalog, but on the shirt's PDP, they appear to the shopper as a single item with color swatches to choose from. This occurs on sites for different reasons (SEO, platform restrictions, etc.), but unfortunately, it has a detrimental impact on personalization.
Too many siblings in a recommendations carousel can prevent other products from being displayed. Thus, you have the option to utilize similar product rules or cross-sell product rules to control which siblings are displayed in recommendations for a particular seed item.
In the examples below, we'll show how this works with cross-sell product rules and similar product rules.
View siblings
When you edit a cross-sell product rule, the window displays siblings under the "Add siblings" drop-down.
In the image above, the system displays a scrollable list of all available siblings for the selected item.
Add and remove siblings
Click the "Add Siblings" link to add a sibling.
Click the minus sign in the list to remove a sibling.
Change siblings
You may decide that the product shown is not the one you want to display; in that case, click the drop-down arrow for the "Product" field and select a different item. The system will show siblings of the current product, but it will also display other items.
Move siblings
When you add a sibling, it is placed in the right-most slot. In the example below, the Treccia scarf, a sibling of the Cuore Scarf on the far left, has been added, so the sibling appears in the last position. Use the six-button icon at the top left of each product to re-position it in the carousel.
To have the Treccia scarf display next to the Cuore Scarf, simply click and drag the icon at the top left to move the item two spaces to the left.
If you decide you don't want the Treccia scarf to display after all, click the trash can icon at the top right of the product.
On the Similar Rules tab, the same options are available when creating Similar Product Rules. Simply click the "Add siblings" link and use the drop-down menu to select a sibling. From here, you may add or delete siblings.
