Beacon Data Quality Report

This report serves as a diagnostic tool for monitoring Beacon events so you can identify and resolve implementation issues that may impact reporting accuracy. It provides a central location for monitoring, investigating, and resolving data integrity issues. This dashboard provides intuitive visualizations that highlight the root cause of integration failures affecting reporting and personalization. It empowers you to independently identify, communicate, and drive resolutions for data anomalies — effectively bridging the gap between complex event data and daily account management.

Note that this report uses Beacon Tracking to generate metrics based on shopper engagement with recommendations. If you do not have tracking enabled, please contact support to ensure these functions are set up for your site.

How should this report be used?

Once you know which beacon event goes with which report, you can analyze any issues. The "Error Rate for Beacon 2.0 Events" visualization at the top of the report reveals why data may be missing from a customer's dashboard.

Different reports require different "depths" of data. If a specific metric is blank, check if the required event is being sent. For example, if an autocomplete event is missing on this Beacon Data Quality report, that means it will also be missing from the Autocomplete report.

• Beacon 1.0 (Legacy): Provides "Bare Minimum" data (e.g., search query text, transaction totals).
• Beacon 2.0 (Current): Provides "Deep Analytics." Required for Impression Rate, Clickthrough Rate (CTR), and other engagement metrics.

General account checkup, suspicion, or other issue

1. Start with the "Error Rate for Beacon 2.0 Events" report to review general health.
2. If errors are reported, use "Summary/Description of Errors" to view exactly why the failures are occurring.

Account transitioning (or completed transition) from 1.0 to 2.0

1. Review the overlapping events chart : There should be zero overlapping events displayed following the migration date. Any data here indicates a conflict that will cause over-reporting.

Visualization and report options

In any visualization on the report, click the three-dot menu at the top right. Select "Download" to choose between an .xlsx or .csv export, or choose "Present" to view the visualization in full-screen mode. The top right corner of the report has a separate kebab menu that offers "Download" and "Present" along with the options to create or manage schedules for sending this report.

Searching the report

You may click the "Event" button at the top of the page to filter by a specific event.

A new "Event" window will open, where you can search the list or type in a search term and apply it to the report.

The report will refresh with your search applied. To remove the applied search term, click the "Event" button again and un-check the selected search term, then click "Apply". The report will reset to its original state.

Error Rate for Beacon 2.0 Events (Total Success vs. Error)

This chart serves as your primary data health indicator. A successful integration should maintain 100% success; any errors should be escalated. Use the "Summary/Description of errors" table to see more details.

Hover over any event to see additional details, which will appear in a black box over the event in focus.

Missing Events by Date

This chart provides events that were missed per day. A dot represents a missing event; missing events could impact data in reports.

Summary/Description of Errors

This table presents a breakdown of errors by event type and date, including error descriptions and daily counts to help identify recurring issues and trends over time.

Right-click any beacon event to see more details. The image below shows how this works; below that are details of this process.

In the example below, we have clicked "search.render" to see additional details.

In the next example, we have clicked "Filter" to filter the entire report by the search.impression event.

Once you have reviewed the filtered report, you can scroll to the top left and click the "Clear all" button to reset the report to its initial state.

Total Incoming Beacon 2.0 Event Trend

This chart shows a week-over-week trend of incoming Beacon 2.0 events for the selected date range. Significant dips in this trend indicate a drop in incoming data.

Note: The following charts flag events that have been recorded by both Beacon 1.0 and Beacon 2.0 pipelines. Once you have migrated to Beacon 2.0, the events should no longer flow to 1.0. The overlaps shown below can inflate or distort your reporting.

Overlapping Events

This table displays events that were found in both Beacon 1.0 and Beacon 2.0.

Beacon Overlapping Event Count Comparison

This table shows a side-by-side comparison of overlapping event counts between Beacon 1.0 and Beacon 2.0 by date. You can click a specific beacon event to see more details. In the example below, we have clicked on "search.render" to see the details, which display a count of the total number of anomalies.

The image below shows the sequence of events, which are described in detail just below it.

1. Click the event.
2. Select a filter by right-clicking and clicking "Filter".

3. The system will display the drilled-down data.

4. To clear the drill-down effect and return to seeing all data, scroll to the top of the report and click the "Clear all" button. This will reset the report to its original state.

Events and their related reports

Each section of this report tells a story. You can use the details to piece together a narrative: what went wrong, and why, and when? The table below displays details of which event ties to which report in the Athos console. Each report is linked to the events needed to provide a full report. Once you know where an event applies, you can use the data in this Beacon Data Quality report to identify causes and solutions for missing data in its related report.
